Before we begin
Your questions.
Can I seek advice before deciding whether I need a foundation or a trust?
Yes. The engagement can begin with an assessment and a comparison of alternatives. We do not assume that any particular structure is necessary for every estate.
Can you coordinate wealth planning for assets outside Panama?
We can address the Panamanian legal aspects and coordinate the analysis with advisers in the jurisdictions involved. Foreign implications require local review and are not presumed resolved by forming a Panamanian entity.
What documents are needed for an initial assessment?
An initial list of assets and obligations, their owners and intended beneficiaries, and any existing company, foundation, trust or will documents. We agree on an appropriate channel for confidential material; it need not be included in the first message.
What does the engagement cover and how are fees determined?
The engagement may begin with an assessment and comparison of options, followed by document preparation and implementation if agreed. Fees depend on the assets, jurisdictions, existing records and work required. Third-party expenses and ongoing maintenance should be identified separately.
Do I need a new entity to organize my estate?
Not necessarily. Reviewing a will, updating beneficiaries or changing management arrangements may be more appropriate. We compare each option’s purpose with its costs, obligations and limits.
